Pep Band @ Central Hardin
The Central Hardin pep band is made up of CHHS Band students, grades 9-12, playing wind instruments (similar to marching band instrumentation) along with a rhythm section – which includes drum set, bass guitar, lead guitar, and piano.
This group performs at many home games and travels only for tournament games for girls and boys basketball teams. The group performs various styles of popular music to bring school spirit to the basketball games at CHHS.
Pep Band Schedule for 2011-12 school year includes 9 home games:
December 9 & 16
January 10, 12, 20, 27, & 31
February 7 & 17
The first rehearsal to prepare for pep band on:
Thursday, December 8
Other rehearsals will take place on the game days before the games
Attendance is mandatory for all games and rehearsals.
The band will also play at Tournament games; which is determined by the basketball teams’ success this season.

Guidelines for Pep Band Participation:
1) Students must attend all games and rehearsals
2) Students must wear the approved CHHS BAND SHIRT
3) Students must sit in the Pep Band Performance area AND in their section during the ballgames
4) Students must use appropriate language at all times
5) Students may NOT leave games early
6) Students will be given 3rd quarter “off” for games and may get food and drink at the concessions during that time. However, NO FOOD or SODA may be brought back into the Pep Band Performance Area
7) Students must be back in place ready to play BEFORE the start of the 4th quarter – be back in place with 60 seconds left in the 3rd Quarter
Guidelines for Rhythm Section Instrumentation:
1 Drum Set player – this person will need to be available for all home games and tournament games.
1 Alternate/”In Training” Drum Set Player – this person will be responsible for learning all pep band songs and will be a “stand-by” player in case the Drum Set Player is ill. They will also be training to take over for the next year of pep band IF THEY EXHIBIT STRONG AND CONSISTENT PLAYING AND ATTENDANCE
1 Piano Player – must have good piano performance skills AND is responsible for setting up the Korg Piano and sound system (with assistance from others)
1 Bass Guitar Player – must be able to read bass clef and have own instrument
1 Lead Guitar Player – must be able to read treble clef and have own instrument and amp
1 Auxiliary Player – will perform on a variety of instruments including shaker, impact drum, and cowbell
